Leading Man

For those of you who squeal, "There he is!!!" and who run, like you're chasing Johnny Depp, I've fished out a photographic proof taken of Alabaster by Richard Gardner over the past summer.
.
Yes. Richard and I are still working on adding to the gradually burgeoning collection that he has created of the dolls. You can visit http://www.richardgardner.com/ to view Bebe, the photographic exhibition from April 2007. In addition to being very generous with legitimate charities, Richard does sell his work to private collectors; you are able to purchase photographs in any size, framed or unframed, directly from him.
.
Rumor has it that Richard's completely new exhibition for the 2008 season will take place in July and will be, again, with the same gallery. The theme is gloriously, elegantly, consumately dark and I'll give you a peek as soon as he lets me.

Emilie Simon

DanVanB

All of you know how much I love crowns. In all their incarnations: big crowns, small crowns, diamond tiaras, chicken wire and lace, Mardi Gras plastic. I love them all and find each one endlessly intriguing. And crowns combined with humor? Irresistible! For a healthy dose of each, visit www.danvanb.com . You just might want to have a portrait painted by him.
.
The picture that you see is a self portrait by Dan that he was kind enough to share. Do I have to tell you that I'm working on convincing Alabaster to borrow the White Rabbit's golden paper party crown?

More Blue Ridge

Sky Line Drive

Yes, the Blue Ridge Mountains are blue.
Attributed to molecules of water vapor, the color is an ethereal mesmerizing shade of, yes, blue. Twisting and turning, wending high above the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia state with blue peaks around four thousand feet in the blue sky, they join heaven and earth and are a glorious sight to behold.
Sky Line Drive and the national park that it traverses is considered to be so magnificent that it is listed as one of our historic national treasures. We detoured three hundred miles out of our way on our way home to journey through them. Do I have to tell you that we were glad we did?

Let me catch my breath. A.D. and I are simply floored and flabbergasted.

Ohmygod; we won the Doll Fanciers' chapter "Triple" again. Twice, in three years.

Born To Be Wild

As the original, one of a kind, prototype for future resin males, Alabaster has proven to be a huge success. Constructed of German clay with glowing Japanese imported eyes and ultra-long platinum two-tone imported Chinese hair, sporting thirteen points of jointed articulation, Alabaster is so well constructed and so perfectly balanced, that he literally stands on his own.

.

Orchid is also so perfectly balanced that she will stand by herself, although she is simply never allowed to do so. I don't have to say that were she to fall, we would be devastated. Typically male, Alabaster is a show-off and regularly stands for the ladies.

.

Already he is proving to be a challenge. He is much more difficult than TheGirls to dress. My husband says that Alabaster has better clothes than him. In the photograph you can see Alabaster's lined bronze leather jacket which is a modern Korean import. I have been sewing double time to produce unusual 'show worthy' clothing for Alabaster.

.

Orchid was named for her distinctive two-tone hair. Alabaster was named for his chalk white skin. A.D. hand sculpted and named them both. No molds were utilized in their creation and none were made of them when they were finished. For those who wish to catch up with A.D. visit: http://www.angeldevilland.com/ .
