Crazy Frog Dance

Laurant is back in the States; his sojourn in Vancouver has come to an end.  The Queen of Slantways will be overseeing his care here.  Laurant will not be completed in time to be shown with Bramble this May.  He is a rather large bullfrog and he is a very large project.  But, I am excited to tell you that "The Frog and the Fairy" are still underway.  I have never tired  of  the story of the Frog Prince.  Laurant and Bramble give us a chance to present our rather unique take on that story.
.
Bramble, the fairy who falls in love with Laurant, will be available for viewing at the articulated fantasy show in Seattle at the end of May.  Bramble has not yet been "seen".  She will be "revealed" at the show and will be amongst the very fine dolls that you will see if you attend.  You can find the Queen of Slantways as well as  information on this show which is entitled "Uncanny Dream" here: http://candygears.livejournal.com/17238.html .
.
Join me in the excitement of "The Frog and the Fairy" and watch a rather crazy frog dance here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BLYJjRncJw
.
A very special thank you to the artists who have been taking such good care of Laurant.  He means a great deal to me and I look forward to the "someday" when he will be completed.

The Dead Path

If you are a fan of "the old Stephen King", you will not want to miss this book.  I do not wish to give away the plot.  Pick up a copy and be delighted and grateful that Stephen M. Irwin gave you such a fun read.

Satan in the Suburbs

In 1984, the town of Great Cow Harbor was host to one of the country's most horrific murders of all time.  This is the documentary which attempts to explain the crime.

Doll Study Club Meets My Dog

Edgar had a fabulous time at the doll show yesterday.  I had been telling him and telling him that he could not attend events because he did not have a jacket to wear.  His silver silk jacket is almost finished, so at the last moment, after telling him he could not go, I was talked into changing my mind.  Edgar went and had a grand time.

He ousted an antique dollie and spent the day sitting in a vintage wooden chair fit for royalty.  Well, he is a 'royal dog'; not every dog is owned by a Queen.  Edgar received presents from the ladies and happily showed his doggie dick to anyone brave enough to see it.

Edgar making himself at home and enjoying the Club's hospitality:

The pink boa was a lovely gift to Edgar.  My dog would like to thank the Doll Study Club for their warm welcome.  Normally dogs are not permitted at shows.  He is grateful for all of his presents.

It was quite the outing for my dog as he is not permitted to do exhibitions.  (Yes, because I said so.)  I am sure that Edgar will be talked about, well, simply forever.

Doll Study Club III

This photo is for the Ozian Queen.  Lest we be tempted to dream and to forget that pale twins and mulitple ball joints are not new inventions ...

Doll Study Club Show II

I do not usually do this, the "this" being "spotlight one vendor from a show", but Diane had such a delightfully lovely display for this weekend's Doll Study Club show that I wanted you to see the photographs separately.

It is truly a shame that I did not take more pictures of what Diane brought, because each doll and each creature was more delightful than the last.  She hauled so many things from Connecticut that she deserves more of a medal than a blog entry.  I figure that a blog entry is the least i can do.

The crocheted sheep were simply adorable and they were only eight dollars each.  I do not know where my photo of the 'mouse in a teacup' went, but I simply loved him.  Diane had truly lovely taste in art dolls and hand made teddy bears.

Click the photos to make them larger.  Please feel free to contact Diane to purchase anything that you see here.  If you live in Connecticut, stop in to say hello.  You can find Diane here:  http://www.dianesdollshoppe.com/index.html

Doll Study Club Show Photos

Yesterday's show put on by the Doll Study Club was a great success.  I bounded out early in the day to attend the show with my dog and spend the day with dollie friends.  Edgar enjoyed himself immensely.  I will post the 'regular' show pictures first.  In a separate entry, I will post the pictures of my dog so that everyone can see him.

The public attendance was not huge, but the vendors said that people were indeed happily spending money.  The Club had beautiful weather for everyone's safe travel and  they were very happy with the day's turnout.

There was a huge show in Philadelphia this same weekend.  Therefore, for a weekend with 'two shows', this one did quite well.  Vendors and collectors were happy.

The lunch menu was hot dogs, knish, tuna salad, egg salad, tuna and egg salad, side salad, coffee and soda. The grilled hot dogs were a big hit; everyone was yumming over the hot dogs, enthusing about how delicious they were.  I was very happy happy with my plain "tuna fish on a scrumptious bagel with crunchy lettuce side salad" lunch and very grateful to the ladies in the kitchen who kept me supplied with copious amounts of steaming hot coffee.

Raffle winners went home happy. I do not know who won the doll who was all dolled up in green cash.  I think the doll had fifty-something dollars on her.

If you click on the photos, you can make them larger.  Please feel free to link to Orchid's Blog or share these photos.  I took them for your enjoyment.

The photographs that I take at the doll shows are completely random.  Much of what you see in the pictures may still be available.  Please feel free to contact the Doll Study Club to try to reach a vendor.  The information that I have for the show and the club can be found here: http://catcara.livejournal.com/192619.html

Elise

The extremely charming new centaur by DaisyDayes is available through 'pre-order' now.  Those of you who have told me, "I am dying for Daisy's work and I just cannot seem to get it!"

Well, this is your chance; make the best of it.  You can find 'Elise' here for adoption now:

I do realize that it is very unkind of me to wave my adorable fire pony around when there are simply 'none' to be had.  So, please make the best of this opportunity to get Elise.  It is unknown at this time if there will be 'another run'.

Uncanny Dream 2011

"Uncanny Dream" will be held May 29th, 2011 in Seattle, Washington.  If you simply cannot get enough of the dolls, you will not want to miss this event if you are in the vicinity of Seattle this May.  A number of very fine artists will be exhibiting their articulated dolls.  Vendors will definitely be around with some lovely doll goodies.  We are expecting this to be "the" doll event of the west coast for 2011.  One of those 'be there or be square' sort of things.
.
Rumor has it that DaisyDayes will be on hand with, perhaps, goblets galore.  Ignatz is incredibly endearing.
.
You will be able to see more than one of my dolls that the Queen of Slantways has been working on.  Please tell Clyde and Bramble that I said hello.  I am very proud of them.
