Weeener's Wanderings

On another day, I will tell you more about how Christy Johnson painted her heart out when she did Weeener for Little Cow Harbor. Today, I just wanted to let you 'see' Weeener. Yes, Weeener's cuteness hurts.
.
Christy Johnson and Candygears are two different people. Both are among my favorite painters in the country.
.
It matters a great deal 'who' paints a piece. If you think of the dolls as as a 'doll shaped piece of canvas' you can easily imagine 'why' it matters. Clean Slate, who is holding Weeener, was painted and dressed by Candygears. Candygears, as I have told you in the past, presides over the faeryland of Slantways. Candygears is Queen there, as I am Queen in Little Cow Harbor. We both have a very good time in our own wonderful worlds. However, the fearsome fun expands eeeks! exponentially when we yank our beautiful borders, overlap them, and torture and tickle them until they meet.
.
Weeener is wandering around Slantways as you can see. This is why she is not home in Little Cow Harbor and will not be for some time. She will actually be going to quite a shindig of a happy Halloween party in those far western lands. But, shhhhhhhhh, that is a surprise for the Seattle peeps.
.
Because I still feel very badly that Weeener's home town of Little Cow Harbor is not getting to enjoy her this Halloween holiday season, I decided upon a surprise. Here is your "clue" which will make no sense unless you look at the Calendar here, and happen to actually go to Harborfields: Vivi is enjoying a moment of Silence.
.
Even if you have gone, you really should go again.
.
The Masque Ball continues well past midnight. Please tell Silence that I miss him. He is one of my dearest horses. He is the one I thought I would never allow you to see. He was painted by Candygears. This is probably the only time you will get to see Candygears paint on the east coast. Surreptitiously shiver, ogle, and enjoy !

Red Teddy Bear

I went with Edgar to Harborfields, so that he could visit with his friends who are now all behind glass. Here is Edgar saying, "Hello" to the Red Teddy Bear that I made.
.
To the right you can see a silvery bluish purple "thing" which is actually a doll sized ribbon scarf. It was made by the fabulous ribbon artist Sally Shore. This scarf belongs to Orchid. You can get your own in people or dollie sized here: http://ribbonweaver.net/ .
.
Check the calendar here on the blog, and see the Red Teddy in person. He will be away from home until the end of October.

Harborfields Halloween Hint

If you can, be sure to see the October exhibit twice. See it once before October 18th, and again afterwards. The party has started. The White Rabbit reminds you not to be late.
.
Halloween is coming. My horses are ready. Are you?

Waltz of Love

This is the only scene worth watching in this movie. I won't even bother to tell you what movie it is.
.

All Hallow's Eve Ball

Harry Clark illustrates the Masque Ball for your pleasure.

Dracula

We like this 1992 film version of "Dracula" . Francis Ford Coppola mixed romance with opulence and managed to pack quite a bite into it.
.
Whether you rent it, or own it as I do, watch it. Why not see it again and again?
.
.
If you have not read Bram Stoker's version, this is also the season to do that.

As the World Falls Down

In 1986, David Bowie starred in one of the most influential classic fantasy movies of our time. This post is for the person who spent time chatting with me during the installation of the present exhibit. He pointed out that my work "looks just like Labyrinth".
.
Yes, I suppose that it does; exactly like Labyrinth only entirely different.
.
Right now, you probably need a respite from the 'Halloween Horror Movie Marathon' . I bring you back to our regularly scheduled Fall programming. Enjoy the Masque Ball. I wish you could don your silken finery and join Vivi and Edge in the sumptuous revelry.
.
.
Grab a mask. It is not too late to check the 'Calendar' on here and head to the exhibit.

Horror Hotel 1960

This is one of those films that is so scary, I am not going to watch it again.
You are welcome to watch it if you dare.
Here is the entire film:

Attack of the Crab Monsters 1957

I always loved this. Every time it came on channel 9, I watched it. Curled up in my father's chair, with one of my mother's handmade afghans, and a huge cup of tea.

Grab a beverage and some snacks and meet me on the couch. The full length film is here:

Island of Lost Souls 1932

My best friend an I loved this movie when we were little. These days we figure: our parents should have paid more attention to what we were watching.

However, it is hard not to like the poetic justice of the ending.

House on Haunted Hill 1959

Still searching for worthy and memorable "Halloween viewing". This is one of my favorite all time scary movies. If you have never seen it, curl up in an armchair and enjoy.
.
However, make sure you are not home alone.

Frankenstein 1910

It is fascinating to watch this film which was made, yes, one hundred years ago.

What am I looking at?

"I went to the exhibit. I don't see any horses." No, I did not get a note like that. Not yet.
.
Tell me this: why does it make more sense for the King of Siam to have had a harem of females, than it does for one of the Queens of Little Cow Harbor to have a stable of good looking males?
.
Have you looked at their feet? Yes, they do have hooves. Look closely. Get down on your stomach and look at the tea party. Even His Majesty has hooves. He is a mouse with giraffe hooves. Right. I am sorry. I didn't mean to confuse you. His Majesty is still a mouse.
.
Now you've got it: the ones who are "Wild Horses" are 'horses' because i said so.
.
My world, my rules. Remember?

What am I looking at?

If you are a biblophile, you might be looking at the books that are in the exhibit. I have an extensive library from which I select a few choice volumes to 'get my point across'.
.
After being completely inundated with "Alice in Wonderland" this past year, I had not wanted to do it for this exhibit. However, I often do "Alice" as a theme and, at the very last moment, because both Edge and Vivi were willing to help me out, I changed my mind. Hence, you are looking at a tribute to Lewis Carroll. Wikipedia, bastion of all knowledge worth knowing, describes him as: author, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and photographer.
.
I think in simpler terms; I just think of him as a man who has changed lives.
.
With this exhibit, his legacy continues. With a little bit of magic from me and lots of hard work from a great many of us, I have gotten to show you a Wild Horse pretending to be a rabbit.
.
I find this to be a fitting twenty-first century tribute to Mr. Carroll.

What am I looking at?

The answer is still an 'it depends'.
.
I can tell you this: right this second, you are looking at Orchid's Blog. Orchid is a doll. Orchid is a collaborative project between A.D. Puchalski and myself. Orchid became so popular that people wanted to know more about her. This includes the fairyland of Little Cow Harbor in which she lives.
.
You might live in Little Cow Harbor, too. In fact, I bet you do. My dog had probably been in your bushes.
.
You are listening to music play on the blog. The blog is not intended for children. The music playing is not intended for children. It is not intended for those who are 'at work' or 'easily offended'. If you are not familiar with the songs to "Wild Horses", you might want to look to the right of your screen, find the 'Music for Wild Horses' and turn it off.
.
I have 'race-y horses' . This is as opposed to 'race horses'.
.
My horses dress up in their finery, go to parties at mansions, and they dance.
.
My dog pole dances for his treats.
.
Yes, one of the "Wild Horses" is a drag queen. But, shhhhhhhh. That is a secret.

What the Moon Saw

Maybe, if you got to see the October exhibit, no explanation is necessary.
.
I hope you had a wild time this October. Thank you for coming. I could do none of this without your unending support and encouragement. They say that a man cannot be a prophet in his own country. Well, I would not know anything about that. However, thank goodness, that it is true that one can be Queen in ones hometown.
.
Perhaps I will see you around Little Cow Harbor, soon. I regularly walk my dog around the park in Great Cow Harbor. Yes, he really is pink. He is a horny poodle. You cannot miss him.
.
xx!

Sarangelo Tea Cup Fairy

Look very carefully, tread very lightly. Shhhhhhh, be very, very quiet. Sneak up close, crouch down low.
.
You can see the fairy having a tea party with Baby Chloe and His Majesty. Yes, I did her outfit. Her corset is silk. Her skirt took me far too long to create from 'spun gold'. Sara created this fairy specifically for Little Cow Harbor. This one was a 'custom fairy'.
.
She is fully jointed and internally strung. The fairy is an amazing poser. She will nestle comfortably in any tea cup or snuggle into any jewelry box. Sara's father makes the cutest black wooden coffins to fit the fairies.
.
Tea cup fairies are masterfully created by artist Sarangelo. Get your own fairy here: http://www.etsy.com/search_results_seller.php?search_query=sarangelo&search_type=seller_usernames
.
Sara has a very sick little kitty right now. You must be patient with her. She has very special 'Halloween fairies' which she created for this year. They were going to be released to coincide with my exhibit. Unfortunately, because of the darling kitty's poor health, they will be a little late. Check her site often, because the fairies fly to new homes extremely fast.

Edge Godiva

.
Edge is a wonderful horse. When describing my horses, I always want to point to each one individually and say, "This one is my favorite." I am partial to each one for different reasons. Edge is a good sport, he looks good naked, and he has a magnificent mane of hair.
.
Edge is an enigma. One person described him as the 'god of chocolate'.
.
This picture was taken on the shores of Little Cow Harbor. Right now, Edge is pretending to be the White Rabbit. Find him with Vivi in Little Cow Harbor's favorite gathering place.

What am I looking at?

Yes, I get asked this alot. We do not have enough time in our lives for me to fully explain it to you. Part of the answer, depends on what you have in your own mind when you ask the question.
.
If it is an exhibit which you are looking at, then the answer is, in part: 'performance art' . I have frozen a moment in time for your viewing pleasure. What was 'going on' before you looked, what goes on 'afterward' is, almost, up to you.
.
As Queen in the fairyland of Little Cow Harbor, I have been busy building a stable of horses. Look carefully, you do indeed see 'horses' . See the hooves?
.
In the October exhibit, Edge, Vivi, and Baby Chloe all have hooves. So does the My Little Unicorn Pony with the pink hair, but I do not know if you want to count him. I am sure you will agree, my horses are pretty 'wild'.
.
As Edge and Vivi get ready to slip away to the Masque Ball on All Hallow's Eve, I have asked them to please go as 'Alice' and the 'White Rabbit' .
.
Watch the White Rabbit carefully. Try to visit him at least twice. Once during the first two weeks of the exhibit, and again before October 31st. Before this exhibit is over, he may lead you even farther down the rabbit hole ...

Mad Monster Party

The October exhibit of mine has begun at Harborfields. It took me about six hours to install it today. More information on dates and times can be found on the "Calendar" here on Orchid's blog.
.
Yes, for your enjoyment, it actually does look a little like this. Particularly the part where the head rolls off the table. When you visit IT, please be sure to tell him I said, "Hello".
